Session 5

The Duel

The party arrives at the dueling grounds as the mysterious mage that accompanies the Baron conjures up a deadly arena for Gelth and the Goliath Champion. The two were set to fight on a teetering platform over a pit of spikes. Once the duel began, the two warriors clashed several times before Gelth finally defeated his hulking opponent; with a little spellcasting assistance from Milo Tilo and Splash, of course. The Baron, true to his word, gave up the hand of Velveeta and angrily wandered back to his mansion. The party began making preparations to leave, but not before Glumbright could meet up with his old “friend”.

The Ring and the Deal

Glumbright, after asking around town, found the worn down house of ex-mayor of Tali. After learning about his downfall after his ring was stolen, Glumbright devised a scheme to earn some land in exchange for the ring that was already in his possession.

Session 4

Preparing for a Fight

The party begins searching for ways to defeat the Purple Dragons. Milo Tilo attempts to recruit others to the town militia. He managed to get the attention of 10 shifty looking gentlemen in the Star and Horn, led by a man named Garnoss. Milo refused their offer to join, as he believed they were far too shady. Milo then managed to get the assistance of several townsfolk in the fight against the Purple Dragons. During this time, Bemish managed to get a prosthetic arm crafted by the Wrong brothers and the town blacksmith. Peekay assisted during this endeavor and learned how to make the arm herself.

Trouble in the Dark

Glumbright managed to meet up with Garnoss and his gang outside the tavern. The two discussed making money by stealing weapons from the town barracks. Upon agreeing to this job, Glumbright went about breaking into the barracks at night. He managed to steal one longsword, but kept the door to the barracks unlocked. Later, Francis the blacksmith was being threatened by the gang of thieves and the party intervened, slaying two of them in the process. Later, the party and Tough Gal would be attacked by the gang while they were training on top of the town walls. The gang would flee into the fog as soon as things took a turn for the worse, however.

The Cavalry Arrives

At dawn, the party heard the sound of hooves hitting dirt from the east. When they ran atop the town walls, they saw 20 horsemen with white banners adorned with a red moon galloping to the front gate. With the horsemen were Jack and Velveeta. The two successfully got support from Tali, but with a mysterious price Velveeta wished to speak about with Milo at a later time. The Cavalry claimed to defeat most of the Purple Dragons, with those remaing fleeing into the wilderness. The commander of the cavalry, a Tiefling by the name of Gregory Strongarm, took his men to the Star and Horn to celebrate their victory and the engagement of the Baron to a new woman: Velveeta. Milo tried fighting for Velveeta, where he learned only those of noble lineage could challenge the Baron over the hand of Velveeta.

A New Member makes a Splash

With amazing timing, a young Half Elf Noble from Bliss, Splash Robinson, entered the Star and Horn, claiming that Milo was in fact a noble from the North. Sir Strongarm, surprised, demanded to see both of their papers. Splash presented his own papers and then lied to Strongarm claiming that Milo simply forgot his. Strongarm then claimed that if Milo would fight for Velveeta, he would need to quickly head to Tali and challenge the Baron to a duel. Splash would then help Milo forge noble papers, and the party ran toward Tali.

Tali and the Baron

The party made it to Tali during an extraordinarily foggy day and rushed to the Baron’s manor. The home was beautifully built and carved into a tree, with several floors and magical lighting. Upon entering they were met by the butler and brought to the Baron’s court. Milo challenged the Baron to a duel, to which the Baron agreed. He chose his champion, a hulking Goliath to fight in his place. Milo chose Gelth to fight for him, and Gelth agreed. The Baron demanded to wait until the fog lifted and in the mean time had a feast conjured up by his adviser, a mysterious spellcaster. The fog lifted and the party were escorted outside.

Session 3

Trouble in the Crystal Mines

The party began their descent into the Crystal Mines only to find movement in a crack covered in webs on their way down. As the party waited, prepared for a battle, an emaciated goblin burst from the webs screaming, only to be pulled back into the crack. Bemish shoots an arrow with a note attached to the top of the cavern, where the rest of the party waited for signs of safety. The arrow landed firmly in the upper minecart rails, causing the rails to become horribly unstable. The rest of the party came gathered in front of the cave however, as they lit the webs on fire. They then unleashed the minecart down the rails, but unfortunately, the cart crashed into a cavern wall, causing stones and crystals to rain down on the tracks, destroying much of them. The party then scrambled to find safety as the tracks collapsed. Eventually, the party wandered into the previously web-filled crack and defeated the giant spider that lay within. Between the webbing, dead goblins, and the spider’s corpse, the party found a ring and an ancient looking barrel. With proper investigation, they discovered that the barrel was actually some sort of vehicle. The group then left to find the diamond that they entered the mines for. They found a large diamond in an ornate wall carving with several carved dwarves reaching for the gem. Bemish took the diamond only to find the dwarvish carvings were actually skeletons placed into the wall. The party defeated them handily and and took the diamond with them.

Underdark Encounters

As the party was leaving, they found a secret door that opened into a hallway that traveled downward for quite some time. At the end of the hallway was a huge cavern, with some sort of town inside. Stone approached the town only to be stopped by two Duergar guards. Stone fled the town, and the party sealed off the hallway before they left the Crystal Mines.

No Time to Rest

The party returned to Pinewood with the diamond, and the materials for Boom Tube powder, with great haste. Glumbright left the vehicle in the temple under the watchful eye of Beatrice. The party rests for the night only to awaken to a crowd in the center of town. Three bandits, who claim to be part of the Purple Dragons, are reading a letter demanding the town surrender to them by week’s end. Bemish immediately shoots the bandit reading the letter, as the bandits all flee, Bemish and Stone make chase. Meanwhile, Milo manages to create a town militia, but only with two members, Tough Gal and Ting.

The Purple Dragons

Stone and Bemish find the three bandits only to be knocked out by four archers hiding in the trees. When the two awaken they are hanging upside down over a fire in the middle of a camp. Everyone that surrounded them was wearing purple to some degree, and they hear a voice bellow out “Bring them down”! Stone and Bemish are approached by a burly looking man with a ragged axe. He introduces himself as Lance Guy, leader of the Purple Dragons. He repeats his demands, and requests that the two bring word to the town to surrender. Both spit in Lance’s face, he spares Bemish, but cuts off his arm with his axe. Stone, however, was beheaded.

Help Wanted

Milo sends Jack and Velveeta to Tali to request help from the nobles there. Meanwhile, in the Star and Horn, Glumbright approaches Tough Gal as she carves a “T.G.” into the bar, much to Dawson’s dismay. After a short conversation, Glumbright steals her gold pouch and walks off. During this time, Peekay discovers how to create the explosive powder used in the Boom Tubes and names the concoction “Sploosh”. Hours later, Tough Gal and Ting spot an unconscious Bemish in front of the town gates. He utters regrets before passing out again.

Session 2

The Show Must Go On…

Upon Thorin informing the town of the imminent goblin threat, the festivities of the festival began to fall apart. Thorin, Milo, and Peekay gathered a town meeting to decide how to handle the menace. Milo Tilo convinced everyone willing to listen that the goblins weren’t actually that big of a threat and that the Harvest Moon Festival should continue. With most of the crowd no longer fearing a goblin attack, Thorin went to the sewers to seal entry way to the underdark by himself.

Brennen Glumbright left the sewers with Gelth, hearing goblins approach. In an attempt to defend the towns people who were absolutely oblivious to the situation, the three adventures stood against an unknown number of goblins hiding in the shadows of the sewers. The goblins launched arrows at Brennen and Gelth, Brennen being wounding him gravely. Brennen ran away from the sewers into an ally way to be struck down by a Goblin. Gelth in the mean time, was trying to reconvene with Peekay, Milo, and the new adventurer : Bemish Saradel. The sound of fireworks exploding was followed by the collapse of an old ruined tower in the center of town, rendering Milo unconscious. Acting quickly, Peekay restored some life into Milo. Bemish located the goblins that set off the fireworks. He let his arrows fly, slaughtering all goblins near the fireworks in the process.

A Kiss in Chaos.

After Milo came to, he looked around for familiar faces that were in danger. He spotted Velveeta being held down by two goblins wielding knives. Milo hummed a tune, knocking the goblins and Velveeta unconscious. Milo rushed to Velveeta’s side and woke her up. Shocked and confused, Velveeta screamed as loud as she could until Milo kissed her. Milo and Peekay then slaughtered the two sleeping goblins.

Target Acquired.

Upon killing the three goblins using fireworks, he began looking for the leader of the goblins. Searching through the frantic crowds he found the goblin leader holding Tang. Bemish can’t save everyone. He drew back his bowstring and let go, with the arrow missing. Tang was stabbed through the back with a scimitar. Enraged, Bemish fired a barrage of arrows until he was rendered unconscious. He then gathered the goblin up and tied him to a post for further interrogations.

A True Friend.

During all the chaos, Gelth frantically looked for his dear friend Brennen. Gelth fought through a few goblins to find Brennen’s corpse. Desperate, Gelth rushed Brennen’s body to the church where he met Beatrice. Beatrice promised to bring Brennen so long as they get her a new diamond. Using a spare diamond, Beatrice breathed life back into Brennen. Brennen alive and well, thanked Beatrice and promised to return with a new diamond.

A Burning Hatred.

Infuriated by his defeat to mere goblins, Brennen found a new displeasure with goblins. He spotted the Goblin leader tied to a pole in town spitting and insulting those who were near. He walked up and slit the goblin’s throat without hesitation. With the goblin leader dead, Brennen knew that it was only the beginning…. that all goblins must pay.

So… What now?
With the immediate goblin threat gone, the towns folk praised Milo, Peekay, Brennen, Gelth, and Bemish for saving their town. However, a new question was brought up. What to do about the hole to the Underdark. An argument ensued over allying with goblins or the spiders, slaughtering either group when suddenly an explosion erupted from within the sewers. Tang’s wife, Oranga, used the left over fireworks to seal the hole to the underdark. The towns folk devoted their attention to finding a new means of defense should the goblins return.

Two Oddities

It was suggested by Dawson that the new towns protectors should be two halfling brothers who live on the outskirts of town. Hearing this news, the adventurers set out to recruit the brothers in hopes of protecting the town from further destruction. As they approached the house a loud boom was heard followed by a halfling flying towards them. The brothers were testing out their newest invention: the boom tube. After a small conversion, the brothers seemed quite eager to come to the towns aid and literally flew towards town. With their vehicle quickly crashing down, the adventurers and the brothers traveled side by side into town.

A Diamond is…

The brothers quickly began setting up shop and building up the towns defenses. With the brothers beginning progress, the adventurers were asked to retrieve algae from the algae cave to create more boom tubes. They entered Gelth’s cave and scavenged enough algae for the brothers. The adventurers did not leave immediately, Gelth moved a boulder in the back of his cave so that the adventurers could enter the mines and retrieve a diamond for Beatrice.

Session 1
Adventure Begins

Misadventures in Pinewood

The story begins in Pinewood with a sketchy looking dwarf, Glumbright, planning out his next heist. He awaits in a shady alley overlooking the preparations for the Harvest Moon Festival. He is hungry and the smell of his favorite food is thick on the air as it cooks in a nearby stall. Unfortunately, a halfling, Milo Tilo, walks between him and his target, obscuring his view of the delicious food.

The Flute Stall

Milo Tilo has been looking all over for a new wooden flute worthy of his musical prowess. Across the town square he sees a flute stall. Three flutes catch his eye, one carved to look like a dragon, one to look like a lizard, and one to look like a spine coated in glitter. After making some small talk with the stall owner, Velveeta, Milo purchases the dragon flute and the glitter flute. He begins by playing the glitter flute, and to his surprise a cloud of glitter erupts from the flute creating a distraction in the town square.

The Raccoons

Glumbright has spotted his opportunity. Using the cloud of glitter as a smokescreen, he deftly steals three steaks garnished with oranges from the nearby food stall. He takes them back to the alley and begins eating one of them. He hears some shuffling from nearby and sees two large, feral looking raccoons scale the nearby wall. They lunge for his steaks. One of the raccoons is successful and runs into town with the prized food. Glumbright takes chase, all the while blaming the raccoons for stealing the steaks in the first place.

The Star and Horn

Meanwhile, the local alchemist, Peekay, was delivering her ground daisies to the local tavern, the Star and Horn. After she received her payment, she noticed a hulking figure drinking the tavern’s most powerful drink, the Hornblaster. This figure was an outlander, Gelth, who lived in a cave outside of town. He came to town to celebrate the Harvest Moon Festival. Suddenly a ruckus could be heard from outside the tavern. The two burst outside the tavern only to see a raccoon on top of the ruined tower at the center of town.

A Misunderstanding…

Peekay immediately tries to throw a rock to knock the raccoon off the tower, only to miss drastically and strike Milo Tilo in the back of the head. He drops dragon flute, breaking a wing in the process. On the other side of the tower, Glumbright and Tang, the owner of the food stall, are trying to throw butcher knives at the thieving raccoon. Glumbright misses as well, landing a glancing blow against Gelth. While Milo Tilo and Peekay were arguing over compensation for the broken flute, the raccoon finished his steak and dashed to the ground, taking the broken wing of the flute with him. He rushed for the sewers, leaving tracks behind him. The party rushed after the raccoon for varying reasons, entering the sewers.

The Sewers

The party, with Gelth leading the search, ran into the sewers. Gelth could hear the raccoon coming from the path on the right, so the party went deeper into the sewers. As they traveled, they realized that the sewers were actually some sunken parts of the old Dwarven ruins of Pinewood. Ignoring the rooms they walked by, they continued deeper into the sewers only to find the raccoon clawing at some crack in a wall at a dead end. They had the raccoon cornered! Milo Tilo rushed into the room to reclaim his flute shard. He was too reckless, however, as he walked directly in front of a pair of crocodiles that claimed the sewers as their home.

The Crocodiles

Battle began with Milo Tilo casting Faerie Fire on the beasts. The crocodiles were lit up with a violet light, making it much easier to hit the beasts in the dark sewers. The crocodiles were no match for the party, however, and one fell quickly. The other, knowing it stood no chance, attempted to flee. It ran directly into Glumbright, being met with a deadly rapier strike to the eye. Milo Tilo, while the last crocodile was being dealt with, rushed after the raccoon. In a failed attempt to tackle the creature, Milo burst through the crack in the wall, opening a path to some cavern where sounds could be heard from. Glumbright loosed an arrow and killed the raccoon, finally ending the chase.

Unfortunate Circumstances

The party decided against exploring deeper into the cavern, opting to speak to the town’s historian, Thorin Sprintek, about the matter instead. Peekay believed the cavern might be some entrance to the Underdark, based on something the historian said to her in passing months ago. The party split up, with half heading to town, and Glumbright and Gelth exploring the left path. Milo and Peekay discovered a gnome hermit, Pim, at the entrance of the sewers as they were leaving. Pim agreed to travel with the two and meet with the historian. Gelth and Glumbright, on the other hand, discovered dwarven carvings depicting the sealing off of a passage to the Underdark somewhere beneath the old fortress. In the rubble they found an old dwarven coin with an anvil engraved in it. As they were leaving the sewers, they heard hooting and screaming from the right path, they knew they had to get out fast.

The Harvest Moon Festival

Thorin told Milo and the group that the wall they opened needed to be sealed off as quickly as possible. During his studies of the ruins, he discovered that there were goblins that had been scouting nearby the crack regularly, to see if there would be anything of interest on the other side. With the wall burst open, the goblins would surely attack the town in moments. Thorin ran into the town square, fireworks bursting to signal the start of the festival, to yell “Goblins”!
